Corum, established in 1955, is a late starter in the watchmaking field, but it achieved great success in the following years soon. With breaking tradition, challenging the new, Corum has been regarded as the world’s youngest luxury watchmaker since 2000. Corum launched a lot of precise, creative timepieces, the Admiral included. The first Corum Admiral watch was created in 1960, and it was a square wristwatch then. In 1966, Jean RenéBannwart, the founder’s son, joined the Corum Manufacture. It’s Jean RenéBannwart that pushed Admiral towards success. In 1991, Corum won in the Admiral’s Cup Yachting Race, meanwhile, Admiral watches became more well-known.
Corum Admiral Collection features 12 maritime flags on the dial and Admiral trophy logo on the case back. The prosperity of a nation has a close connection with the maritime career. Inspired by the maritime career, a lot of famous watchmakers have created well-known ocean-themed watches, but they got inspiration from different aspects. Designers were inspired by 12 flaps and pennants used in ships and Admiral’s Cup. Flaps and pennants are a kind of flag semaphore. In the vast ocean, flags are used to transmit signals between ships and ships. It goes without saying that flags are important for ships or yachting boats. Due to the 12-flag decoration, the twelve-sided polygon case has become the final edition. The twelve-sided polygon case and 12 flags have been features of Corum Admiral Collection.
